little friends

Hello and welcome back to another wee note from mARTi creates.

It’s February – already….even though we’re still pretty much in full lockdown here in Scotland, the days and weeks seem to fly by. I’m incredibly thankful for my crafting, now probably more than ever before. It brings so much joy & comfort, lots of little ideas and goals I can work towards and always the hope that my little creations make some of you smile.

So, there will be a wee shop update ( tomorrow, 7th February 2021 at 19:00 UK time.

All 4 felted friends pictured in this blog post will be looking for a new loving home.

Holly and Jack

Just a quick update to let you all know that my latest two doll children ‘Holly’ and ‘Jack’ will be looking for a new loving home a bit later this week.

Jack and Holly are two handmade Art Cloth Doll by mARTi creates. They are both about 22cm tall (standing) and made with lots of joy and love.

Jack and Holly will be available in my shop on Thursday, 21 January 2021 @7pm UK time.

The dolls are filled with soft wool and button jointed. They can sit (unsupported) and stand with support.
The head is fully needle felted, soft sculpted and slightly coloured. Black glass Teddy bear eyes finish the friendly expression. The hair is crocheted from soft Mohair yarn (Jack) or sewn from Mohair weft.

Jack is wearing knitted dungarees , cotton shirt, a cosy scarf, warm socks and a knitted hat. Holly is wearing a hand sewn cotton dress, underwear, a knitted cardigan, a knitted hat and felted shoes.

All my dolls and felted friends are carefully handcrafted and are meant for the adult collector. The items are collectibles and figurines and should be handled gently. They are NOT TOYS due to small parts and the delicate nature.

Please note that I will do my best to send the dolls as quickly and safely to your home but delays are expected due to the ongoing pandemic and also new customs regulations due to Brexit.

Hello in 2021

Hello all – I hope this email finds you all well and safe.

Just a wee heads up that there are five small handmade elephants waiting in my shop.

They are little embellished fabric ornaments with ‘button wheels’ to resemble a vintage pull along toy. (Dimensions: about 12cm long and 11cm tall)

Due to ongoing uncertainties around COVID and new shipping/customs regulations because of Brexit I have only added a few smaller items to my shop. If all goes well, I will be able to add more creations over the coming weeks.

The elephant is a gentle giant & symbolizes strength, wisdom, good luck & patience.

Thank you for visiting – stay safe and take good care!

Happy Hogmanay – Happy 2021!

Happy Hogmanay – wishing you all a good and healthy new year!

I enjoyed some quiet time in the days between Christmas and New Year – the wonderful time when no one really knows what day it is…- and I felt like trying something new and creating the two little elephants. I don’t know where the inspiration came from – something new, something small, something filled with love and precious little stitches.

The fist one is made from a pair of old jeans and a cute little upcycling project.

I started reading about the symbolism of elephants and realised that these fascinating animals and gentle giants have a very positive symbolic meaning all over the world. They are considered to be a symbol of good luck, power, success, wisdom, and patience.

The two little elephants with their upward pointed trunks dispense energy, good luck and kindness. Elephants show this movement to greet friends and express delight.

With this in mind, I would like to send you all lots of good wishes and patience for the new year – have a sparkling 2021 & keep a little elephant close by…

My next shop update will be announced as soon as possible after the festive period and once there is a bit more clarity regarding Brexit and it’s effects on etsy sellers. Watch this space – there will be some little elephants looking for a new home.

Happy Christmas

Wishing you all peace and joy for the festive season.

A heartfelt Thank You for all your likes, comments, messages & support.

Stay safe and well x

‘Auld Lang Syne’

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And surely ye’ll be your pint-stoup!
and surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We twa hae run about the braes,
and pou’d the gowans fine;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit,
sin’ auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl’d in the burn,
frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
sin’ auld lang syne.

And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere!
and gie’s a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll tak’ a right gude-willie waught,
for auld lang syne.

The bear is poseable and slightly floppy – he just has a nice cuddly feel. Callum is wearing hand knitted dungarees.
